At Sunflower Seedlings Preschool, we believe that movement is more than just fun—it's a fundamental part of learning and development for young children. That’s why we’re so excited to announce our new collaboration with Tot Gym at the Jefferson Park Community Center!
Tot Gym is a dynamic indoor space where children can explore, climb, jump, and play. This partnership gives our preschoolers the perfect opportunity to engage in movement-based activities that support their growth and development in so many incredible ways.
Why Movement Matters for Children
Research shows that physical activity is important for a child’s overall development. Here are just a few reasons why movement is such an important part of our curriculum:
Boosts Physical Health: Regular movement improves strength, coordination, and overall fitness.
Develops Gross Motor Skills: Activities like jumping, climbing, and balancing help children build the foundational skills they’ll need for sports, play, and daily life.

What This Means for Our Preschoolers
We’ll be incorporating Tot Gym into our program on specific days (stay tuned for updates!), giving children the opportunity to run, play, and stretch their limits in a safe and structured environment. Whether it’s navigating obstacle courses, balancing, or simply having fun with friends, these activities align perfectly with our hands-on, play-based approach to learning.
