Open House in Jefferson Park!

Today at Jefferson Park, we hosted our Sunflower Seedlings Preschool Open House, and what an incredible day it was! The crisp air, the joyful energy of little explorers, and the warm sense of community made it truly special. Seeing families come together to learn, play, and connect reinforced why I started this journey in the first place.

A Day Full of Exploration & Play

From the moment families arrived, there was an air of excitement (and maybe a little bit of wind—thanks, Seattle!).

Children had a blast exploring musical instruments, flipping through books, creating colorful masterpieces, and, of course, meeting Strawberry the Kindness Monster! (If you haven’t met Strawberry yet, don’t worry—you’ll get your chance!) Watching their curiosity, creativity, and laughter unfold throughout the day was a joy to witness.

A special shoutout to Mr. Chris, our part-time music instructor, who brought the rhythm of the day to life with his drumming. 🥁🎶 Meanwhile, I stood nearby, deep in thought… about blowing bubbles. Because, priorities.

Why Nature-Based Learning?

One of the most heartwarming moments was chatting with families about the importance of outdoor education. At Sunflower Seedlings Preschool, we believe children learn best through hands-on experiences in nature—where they can touch, explore, and discover at their own pace. Whether it's digging in the dirt, watching bugs up close, or simply feeling the wind on their cheeks, nature provides an endless classroom full of wonder, adventure, and growth.

It was so wonderful meeting everyone today, and I’m beyond grateful for this growing Beacon Hill community of families who value outdoor learning, curiosity, and play. If you couldn’t make it, no worries—there will be plenty of chances to connect again soon!
